Lead pastor on Acts 5: the early church’s perseverance under persecution depended on character — being of one heart and mind. The story of Ananias and Sapphira shows the cost of spiritual hypocrisy. Concealing injustice in the church is itself a deception of God. Eternal life is not static but the continuous transformation of our lives in cooperation with God.

Rev. Ngeo Boon Lin on Mark 2:18-22 — the three parables of the bridegroom, the new patch on old cloth, and new wine in new wineskins — all calling for change. Christians may give their utmost effort to goals, but entrust outcomes to God. Live in the present: do what should be done now, free of the pressure of outcomes. We do not seek to be the last straw; we seek only to be one of them.

Read together, the Good Samaritan parable and the Martha-and-Mary story (Luke 10:25-42) subvert the class and gender expectations of their time — a despised Samaritan becomes neighbour, a woman becomes disciple. Addressed to Theophilus, a wealthy Roman official, the message is clear: in the Kingdom of God, the hierarchies Rome prizes are dismantled.

Pentecost sermon on John 14:8-17, 25-27. John’s Gospel presents the Spirit not as a charismatic Spirit of signs and wonders but as another Counsellor — guiding the disciples into truth, calling back to mind what Jesus said. Serving with passion alone, without reason, brings more damage than good. May we know both the passionate and the rational Spirit.

Lead pastor on Acts 2:1-13 — Pentecost. The Spirit who came at Pentecost reversed Babel: where languages had divided, the Spirit now unites. The gospel began to break through language, ethnicity, and geography. The sermon also remembers June 4th and the mainland Chinese churches under persecution — calling for the Spirit’s light to preserve historical truth.

Jason Ho on Psalm 119:129-136 and BMCC’s view of Scripture: the Bible is humanity’s response to encountering God, including the authors’ own subjective takes. Lectio Divina — the Benedictine prayer-with-Scripture practice — is not solitary but communal: spiritual discipline is exercised in community, in mutual care, accountability, and shared learning.

Lead pastor on Acts 1:1-20. The post-resurrection disciples had to learn to build the church on the Spirit alone — the word ‘Spirit’ appears more than fifty times in Acts. The early church was a boat in stormy seas: each disciple a rower. Only by one-spirited prayer and unified leadership could the community survive. If we must face another storm, can we be in it together?

Sixth and final sermon in the Lord’s Prayer series. Lead pastor on Matthew 6:9-13 — ‘lead us not into temptation.’ Temptation circles in adversity; daily devotion builds our resistance. Slow down, savour heartbeat and breath, add more moments of connection with the Lord — and when temptation comes, perhaps we can sweep it away in a moment.

Eric Sin on John 20:19-31 — the post-resurrection disciples meeting the risen Christ in fear and doubt. Doubt is not necessarily disobedience; without doubt, no one would have perceived the patriarchal frame of Scripture, and no LGBTQ+-affirming church would exist. As Hong Kong’s religious freedom tightens, can we still hear Christ’s blessing: ‘Peace be with you’?
