BMCC’s screening of *1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture* — the documentary investigating the 1946 Bible mistranslation that fuelled Christian anti-gay teaching. Tickets were oversubscribed; an additional screening is planned at the church on Sunday 3 November 2024. Features Kathy Baldock’s archival research at Yale that led to the discovery.

July 2023 will be the 31st anniversary of our first inclusive Church in Asia, BMCC. Thank you for all the community support. During this time, we learned something new and transformed our faith.

A Hong Kong Free Press investigation reports that almost 10% of a HK government subsidy scheme intended to promote LGBTQ+ rights has, since 2017, funded groups practising sexual orientation change efforts — a discredited practice condemned globally as dangerous and traumatic. BMCC stands committed to ending conversion therapy.

With LGBTQ+ life gaining new visibility in Hong Kong popular culture, this Sexual Minority Tour explores the history and memorable places of Hong Kong’s queer community — including BMCC as one of the city’s longstanding inclusive spaces. A Hong Kong Economic Journal feature on BMCC’s Jason Ho — one of Hong Kong’s few openly LGBTQ+ Christian missionaries. Ho seeks to break the public stereotype that Christianity is uniformly conservative. Despite stalled LGBTQ+ rights and anti-discrimination legislation in Hong Kong, much of the opposition comes from religious voices; Ho responds from within the church through witness, teaching, and pastoral care.
